We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service:
- Email address (for verification and delivery)
- Payment information (processed by Stripe or Paddle)
- Selected map area coordinates
- Generation options
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to:
- Verify your email address
- Process your payment
- Generate your Minecraft world
- Send you the download link
3. Data Retention
Generated worlds are automatically deleted after 7 days. Payment records are retained as required by law.
4. Third Parties
We use the following third-party services:
- Stripe: Payment processing and Merchant of Record. Your purchase is sold through Link, LLC (a Stripe company), which acts as the merchant/seller of record and is responsible for charging you, collecting and remitting any applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax), and handling refunds and payment disputes. Your payment information is handled directly by Stripe/Link and never stored on our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Paddle: Payment processing and Merchant of Record for purchases made through our alternative checkout, including payments with PayPal. These purchases are sold through Paddle.com Market Limited, which acts as the merchant/seller of record and is responsible for charging you, collecting and remitting any applicable taxes, and handling refunds and payment disputes. When you use this checkout, Paddle's checkout script is loaded from Paddle's servers and your payment and contact details are handled directly by Paddle and never stored on our servers; Paddle shares your email address with us so we can deliver your world. - Resend: Transactional email delivery. Your email address is shared with Resend solely to deliver your download notification. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: Map tiles and geodata used for area selection and world generation. When you use the location search, your typed query and IP address are sent directly from your browser to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service. See OSM's Privacy Policy.
5. Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:

6. Payment Routing
MapSmith is available to visitors worldwide. To offer a checkout that works in your country, we determine your country from your IP address when you open the generator and when you start a checkout, and choose between our payment providers (Stripe or Paddle) accordingly. We do not sell to certain sanctioned or high-risk countries; visitors from these countries are informed that purchases are not available. The lookup runs on our own server against a locally hosted copy of the IP-to-country database by DB-IP (licensed under CC BY 4.0); your IP address is not transmitted to any third party for this purpose. We store only the resulting country code together with the chosen payment provider for each checkout, to measure which provider works best in which region. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in offering a working payment method and improving checkout success.
